A BIG change....

Six weeks ago I thought life was already hard, it is never as hard as it could be.  I took Shayla to the neighbor to test her Blood Glucose levels and you know they came back too high. I had known for a couple of weeks that I needed to test her, but was not ready to face what I call the real world. After 3 days at Primary Children's we were sent home to figure out the rest.

When you are expecting your children you think about all the things that can go wrong in the womb not when they are perfect and healthy. It was really hard to accept the fact that carter has Aspergers then to add this to our little Shayla.

We did all that we could to protect her.......
We had her blessed to help with other medical problems, and they went away.
We didn't let the dog bite to hard.
When walking she did so on the grass.
Didn't let her eat the bubbles!
Yes, we both also lived with the fits.

As we learned NOTHING can protect her from type one Diabetes. It is not caused by anything we did as parents. I am grateful that we have great scientists to fight for all the children and adults living with diabetes!  We are waiting on a pump to be delivered and learn how to use it. It is very hard to see her have to get shot after shot but, she keeps her spirit up most of the time.  She keeps asking if there is a cure yet and the hardest thing is to not have an answer other then "No, but they are working on one everyday and til then we have insulin"
